2018 Social World Film Festival

The Social World Film Festival - an International Festival of Social Cinema reopens its doors with its 8th edition from 22 to 29 July 2018 in the town of Vico Equense.

This festival aims at combining young people's passion for the cinema and important social issues. The backdrop of the beautiful Sorrento Coast just adds extra splendor to this annual appointment in Vico Equense.

It's a "world" festival, not only because it welcomes films from various countries in competition and includes the participation of foreign directors, professionals and an international public, but above all, because the shown pieces created by these amazing young people are shown in major European and world capitals in special events organized by the Social World Film Festival.

Year after year it has managed to make its mark in the world of international films. The town-square of Vico Equense lights up with this festival of artists coming from the Italian and World cinema scene and leaves a "wall of fame" no one can ever forget.

Numerous new events are scheduled for the 2018 edition, even if still top secret. As to be expected, like with all past festivals, the event will surely be a great success and will attract a large number of participants and spectators.

The 2018 Regatta of Saracene Towers

The Regatta of the Saracene Towers is a high-altitude race that takes place between the Gulfs of Naples, Salerno, Policastro and S. Eufemia in Campania Region.

From June 1st to June 10th, 2018 the 13th Edition of the regatta will includes a rich calendar of events and Awards for each trial race.

"Francis Bacon- Transformation" in Sorrento

For the first timein Italy the exhibition "Francis Bacon-Transformation" will be hosted in Sorrento from May,20th to October 21st 2018 in Villa Fiorito, one of the most interesting and characteristic places in the historical centre of Sorrento.

The approximately one hundred works on view are a gift from the artist to Barry Joule, friend of Francis Bacon and will be composed of rectoverso drawings, several documents collected over time by the collector and a group of paintings from the Surrealist period.

Salvador Dali Exhibition at the PAN of Naples

The Dali exhibition in Naples at PAN, “Palazzo delle Arti Napoli” is one of the most awaited exhibitions of the year in Italy and specific in the Campania Region dedicated to the spanish artist Salvador Dali.

Weaving and Embroidery exhibition in Sorrento

The second edition of the "Weaving and Embroidery exibition" returns to Villa Fiorentino located in the historic center of the city of Sorrento from May,21st  to May, 27th 2018.

The characteristic villa will be filled with bright colors thanks to the numerous and fascinating Weaving and embroidery  art works exposed.

The ancient art of sewing is an integral part of the Sorrentine tradition.

This ancient art handed down for centuries in this  territory from generation to generation from mothers to daughters.


The Amalfi Coast

The road unwinds as it is a fairy balcony suspended between the cobalt light blue of the Mediterranean sea and the slopes of the Vico Equense mountains, the Lattari Mountains along alternating romantic valleys and promontories between small and natural bays, caves, uncontaminated beaches and charateristic villas with beautiful terraces on the sea where are cultivated citrus fruits, vineyards and olive groves. Itís a unique place, an extraordinary blend with folk architecture who gives a rise to one of the most famous italian landscapes all over the world: the Amalfi Coast.

Amalfi is the town who gives its name to the coast. It was in the past one of the four italian Maritime Republics. In the little square of the town there is the Chathedral of Saint Andrea rich in style from Romanesque to Byzantine, from Gothic, to Baroque . Charateristic of the Chathedral are the sixty-two steps in striped marble and stone wide and steep, lead up to the doors of the Cathedral.

A few kilometers away from Amalfi there is Furore, a real open-air art gallery with its many murals. The village is fascinated thanks to the spectacular and evocative scenery of nature. In Furore there is the single Fjord of Italy. Furore is the most famous tourist destination in the hamlet.

Continuing along the coastal road there is a true country-crib, Positano which starts from the big beach ì Spiaggia Grande ì is a increasing of colorful homes. Positano is famous all over the world for its fashion and style and the charateristic architectural style of the houses. It is called ì the vertical town of Italy ì as its building are one close to the each other creating an authentich labyrinth of alleys. It is dates back to the ninth century, at time of the Romans and Saracen invasions.

Ravello stands out amongst the others for its elegance and sophistication. Its charming villas are immersed in the green of nature and create an almost surreal ambience. Well known all over the world for the Ravello Festival. The festival takes shape in the gardens of Villa Rufolo and is a romantic combining between the scenic setting with the classic music and the charming panoramic view on the coast.
